Good horses
Start with horses worth believing in.
Diamond A Performance Horses
Diamond A is a cutting horse program built around good horses, honest development, and the belief that the work matters as much as the result.
Owner/Competitor
From professional hockey to elite-level CrossFit, Ironman and triathlon, Derek has spent most of his life in environments where progress is earned through work, discipline, and consistency.
But through all of it, every road eventually brought him back to the saddle.
He brings that same mindset to cutting and to the horses at Diamond A. He is competitive by nature, but horses have taught him that more effort is not always the answer. Sometimes the work is knowing when to ask, when to wait, and when to let the horse figure something out.
Derek is happiest with his horses, in the saddle, helping them figure life out. He loves the day-to-day process of learning a horse, finding what makes one tick, and watching confidence and understanding develop over time.
As an owner and competitor, he is deeply involved in the Diamond A program. His approach is simple: start with good horses, put in the work, stay honest about what is in front of you, and give each horse the opportunity to become what it is capable of becoming.

The Diamond A approach
Start with horses worth believing in.
Do not force a timeline because the calendar says so. Pay attention to what the horse is ready for.
Put enough good work into one that the foundation holds when more is asked.
